Brilliant rides...

Really good value for money..

You wont get a cheaper days ride..

You probably wont get to ride the tracks set out anywhere else..

Ideal for beginners and those with experience..

Ideal if you have a partner with a bike licence who wants to try out trail riding in an easy and convenient environment..

There are easy routes and more challenging routes and some very challenging routes..

You take the day at your own pace (it's not a race or competition) and the whole day is safe enjoyment taken at your own pace..

Refreshments laid on, help if needed and everyone who's attended has really enjoyed the day..

The last two event days I've used at least one and a half tanks of petrol on the bike.. really really good fun with nice people in a very nice area of the country

If your partner does not want to ride you are very close to some brilliant countryside and coast line.. bring the kids as well and they can go off exploring for the day then return to pick you up.. job done and brownie points earned.. and a driver provided to drive you home while you sleep off the days riding..

The surfing beaches of Woolacombe and Croyd are only an hour away.. Woolacome (Putsborough end) is ideal for kids.. Exmoor National Park is beautiful..loads of NT places to visit or a day at Minehead...

Miss it and miss out... :( >

Trials tyre only. Unfortunately - this put me off as I don't have them fitted.
its only the rear that needs to be a trials tyre, (which i find makes little difference to my riding)
quite often there's some used ones on ebay going cheap !

We went to the site to do a Recce yesterday & there are some great sections
A couple of the hill climbs you need not be too agresieve on the throttle or you quickly loose the grip, (especially Delveys favourite as this was lovely & slippery ;-)), these are going to be great spectate (they are optional routes)
Some great forest runs between the trees, the easy main tracks looping around the forrest & some trial sections
This is going to be a great day :)

Nice to see some TRF groups making an effort to all members and none members... Fair play :)

Somerset TRF are great. There are very very few BOATS in the Somerset area so as a group they are really up against it and spend a lot of time and resource on fighting claims. Also, as there's not a lot of lanes, a lot of members race and go abroad for some serious riding (there's a thread on here from when they went to Romania).

They are the only TRF group I've met and they don't live up to a single one of the negative clichés about TRF groups that get thrown around.

I think the forest day will be great fun. And this weather will really show what a trials tyre is capable of when it comes to wet roots and slimy woodland!

Having a similar conversation at the min regarding the TRF on another thread. If I was much closer I would have 100% attended and shown my appreciation for their efforts

Just read the other thread - I'm not an active member of the Somerset Group (mainly because I work away a lot and can't get to the meetings) but at the first meeting I went to I was invited along to a ride, offered maps to copy routes from and informed of what I can do to help make a difference in fight against the antis! I can't believe that other groups would be any different. I can understand groups that want to get to know someone first but they should be encouraging ALL trail riders to join and get involved. Conversely, all trail riders should pitch in and pay the £45 a year, even if they don't ride with the groups (which is what I've done).

Anyway... I'm sure it's a discussion that's been had many times before.
