So im going to be using it predominantly offroad but want to be able to ride 10 or so miles onroad without tearing the tire to bits.. In the manual it suggests that for the 250 exc i use a metzeler mce and for the XC the bridgestone m59/m402.. Has anyone much experience of the Bridgestones on their exc - i presume they'd be slightly harder wearing and less focussed whereas the metzelers conversely more race focused and likely to wear soon?

Any other personal recommendations appreciated !

Hi

I have the bridgestone tyres and the rear is a very soft tyre which loses it' edge very quickly. (motocross tyre, not road leagal)

I'm not sure what mce stands for, but metzler six days (if thats what you meant) is lot harder tyre and road leagal. (better tyre choice for road)

Any FIM approved like Pirelli Scorpion, Michelin Comp3 / 4.

Ah thats strange, the metzeler looks more race oriented doesnt it - the way the knobs (teehee) are quite sharp and small looking...

Will have to get some more Metzelers on order !
