Off around France on the 990ADV in a week and about to sort the travel insurance. Any recommendations on who to use, good deals/prices etc? Does anyone know if it needs to specifically cover riding a motorcycle, or will any old cover do?
(Am covered for breakdowns etc through Bikesure)
We use worldwide insure, another one is Wily Fox, also Carole Nash do it. Check that whoever you go with covers bikes above 125cc, most don't and if you are riding unsealed roads/tracks most won't cover you - Wily Fox and worldwide Insure do.
Check the small print VERY CARFULLY - most 'standard' policies will class riding any motorcycle over 125cc as being a 'hazardous pursuit' and do not provide cover.
They provide cover for motorcycling and also cover you 'offroad' - their definition of 'offroad' is that you have to be on a recognised road or trail.
Never tested their services myself but they airlifted a friend from the wilds of South Africa to the local hospital and then back to the UK - and all for a very reasonable premium
Offroad in Portugal from 11-20 Sept. The offroad sections are on forestry tracks. Will also be doing road work. Bike already insured, but looking for travel insurance. 4 guys going and all fit and healthy ages range from 43 to 52.
I'm with BUPA Gold worlwide. Bit pricey but absolutely 1st class no quibble treatment, I've had to use it a few times. Health only obviously.
