brought a new air filter it is a twin air one that says on bag it is a bio filter is this the water based filter oil they soak them in at factory and is it best to wash it out before even fitting it and use my super tacky solvent based filter oilas a lot of users on here dont rate the bio filter oil,do many riders just buy the pre oiled filters from twin air and just fit and ride.

I've just ordered two pre-oiled Twin Air filters from Jim Aims, Chris.
As we discussed, there are less messy things to do in life than get my arms covered in filter oil and then watch it dribble down the prop stand for the next three months because I didn't squeeze the foam out enough.
Horrid stuff.

did u check inside your airbox for crud and water david mine had some water inside and dont want it going through waterbased filter oil ,i am used to cleaning my filters in petrol drying out then reoiling in plastic bag and gloves on so can squeeze the life out of them then fit so dont get the oil slicks lol ,just being lazy i think buying pre oiled but my original ones were looking tired

The only time i've had water issues was when i used a brand new pre-oiled filter.... after the ride i used my usual "dunk it in a bucket n squeeze" with proper filter oil.... no problems....

I buy them always pre-oiled but only use them in dry conditions as I dont trust the bio stuff. Then, after cleaning them (I use the Putoline cleaning kit too) I soak them in Putoline's blue non-bio oil, squeeze excess oil out, let dry 24 hrs, put grease on the rim of the rubber boot and check twice that the filter sits tight.
