For road, most go for 14/45 which seems to work for most situations and riding styles .. I run 15/48 on my 540 which is almost the same (ish) I think

 

14/45 here, works nice

plenty of grunt to clutch up too

 

Anything from 14 front to 42 to 46 on the rear will be fine. Just depends on what you want, i.e top speed or acceleration?

 

i found that 14/45 is plenty tall enough, i can sit at 70 in 6th with the bike just cruising along/not revving its nuts off

but then i only weigh 10 stone with gear

 

I got it wrong i have got 42 14 just i need to order a new chain as the enduro one is to big now i am after bottom end want to top out around 90 mph so am think to get a new 45 rear sprocket for what i am after? Or could i get say just a 15 for the front? Would that make it around the same as 14 45? Its just i have a brand new supersprox 42

 

Think you'll find a 42t a bit tall to be honest !!

 

Also should i buy a 520 o ring chain?

 

You will have trouble fitting a 15 front to a 450exc. The stock front chain guard will not fit.

 

14:42 will be dead.

14:45 is OK all round for road use.

14:48 is real good fun on the road, top end is about 100 but revving a lot more than same top end you will get with 14:45.

I use 14:50 off road and 14:45 all with same chain.

 

Depending on the power of the engine if its working well

 

i have a brand new genuine ktm 45 rear if needed

 

How much are you wanting for it? My enduro sprocket is 50 so if i buy a 45 do you think i can get away with using the same chain like u kevin?

 

Should be ok if you turn the adjuster blocks round the other way to push the wheel further back for the 45

Ordered one now pal ordered a 14 front 45 rear with a o ring chain so got 2 chains for enduro wheels and moto wheels

No worries ordered a new chain now anyways but cheers anyway what do yoh do about fitting the front tyre between the fork guards? Do i trim them down abit? If so how? Thanks

 

yeah i think they do require trimming or do what i did and just buy the proper ones
