Hi, I picked up my 2018 1290R in January, I'm very happy with it, but there's a few things that are not clear, and I thought I'd ask you guys for a bit of guidance if that's alright.
My observations :-
I'm the third owner.
I asked the last owner what upgrades it had, he said the quickshifter had been unlocked, I asked him if it had the 'Tech Pack'? He didn't know what I was going on about.
Tech pack by my understanding includes software unlocks for Quickshifter, Motor Slip Regulator and adaptive brake light, with that in mind,
- Quickshifter works well.
- The tail light is an aftermarket unit with integrated indicators in the tail, the brake light does flash on/off rapidly when you put the brakes on.
- I don't feel an awful lot of engine braking much less than my 990 SD and 950 SM which I previously owned.
And on another note,
There is no evidence that anything from the 'Track Pack' has been unlocked.
There are no clues in the supporting documentation.
My Questions:-
1. It would 'appear' by my reckoning that this has the 'Tech Pack' But I can't find info on the MSR in the menu. Any way of checking on the screen? I figured if I drop it down 3 gears and let the clutch out quickly, if the back end doesn't lock up, it's probably working.
2. Heated grips are selectable in the menu but do nothing, is this a software unlock or a seperate Item, looking at them they have the same pattern on the grips if they are standard or heated.
3. I have a 'small' amount of movement in the left grip, it's only slight, but I've not had this on any other bike and wondered what the cause might be, there are aftermarket bar ends fitted.
4. I have a 'general fault' yellow caption that has recently appeared, but everything seems to work, no idea what that's indicating.
Just trying to get my ducks in a row as I want to make a few changes, and I'm considering getting the Track Pack upgrade.
Really like the bike though, I think they got a lot right with this model.
