Stopped for a chat, when restarting bike FI light was flashing 8 times then stop, then 8 times again etc, the bike was in neutral at the time, bike running.
When I put her in gear the F1 Light stayed on all the time while riding up the road about a mile.Turn bike off, then when going to restart her, it's back to normal.:confused::confused:
The owners hand book says it could be the input signal from throttle grip sensor too low/high.
Can anyone tell my if it does this again, can I still ride the bike until I get it checked by dealer.;)
Bike is a Duke 690.

There was me thinking that Mummybear had been rather quiet of late - probably too busy out enjoying her 690 (between the Mumbia-style monsoon in the Vale of Leven).

But, No - Further problems with the bike are reported. Mummybear postings are rapidly looking like a really poor advertisement for the 690 Duke III.

Looks like a return trip to Avuss, another warranty claim and another nail in the coffin of KTM's reputation.

re: not starting.

With my 690 sm I had a similar weird thing happen a couple of times.

Turned key on, waited for tacho sweep and lights on dash to do their check.
Fi light stayed on(not blinking) pressed starter nothing.

Turned ignition off then back on, everything back to normal and bike started.

Happened about 4 times in a year.

Contacted dealer(fowlers) who said it may be a bad earth.

Took off tank and tightened earth point(which was not very tight) and its not happened since.

Also treated all connectors that I could get at with silicone spray.

Think that on these forums I have read of dealers filing of the paint underneath the earth points for better contact to frame, may try this if it happens again.

Hope this may be of some help.:D

Mummybear, mine did the same thing and as has been suggested above it was cured by sorting the earth. In my case that meant undoing the earth bolt, cleaning all the earth wires and reattaching it all and finally giving it all a blast with ACF50 (WD40 would be better than nothing). HTH. PS, it's an easy job to do.
