Just learned that few places have "fuel dongles" for smc r etc bikes. I was thinking of getting powercommander but seems a little bit excessive for now so anyone have experience on these fuel dongles ? My mc would be 14' smc r with evo 1 kit.

for what purpose?

I have a boosterplug on mine. used it to try and solve the random stalling issues. In the end putting the baffle in fixed it.
cant tell if the boosterplug did much of a difference
Same as on my older post, mostly for trying to fix the lean condition on lower rpms

Quick edit: i can find positive reactions for the dongle but thought to ask here. Not really a friend of the solution but for now i think my money is better spent for full leathers next year than the powercommander.

I havent fitted the evo 1 kit, first owner did that, but there was someone who had the bike before me. I bought the bike with fire damage and repaired what needed so i dont know everything about the bikes past. I do know it has either evo 1 or akra map installed. I dont expect magic but little more pull on lower rpms. The bike just dies if for example you go 100kmh on 6th gear and speed drops just under 100, you really need to twist the throttle for the thing to get back to speed without dropping gear and feels like its struggling to pull from that pretty hard(rpm is around 4k at that speed), but might be just me but i would think 690cc shouldnt battle too hard to go up from that rpm point even when being tuned for high rpm use. My last bike was klr650(still have it but its in pieces 😅) which i had jetted and i never got such struggle but the engine is also tuned for very different rpm area. I dont know, but id say tuning the afr should increse bottom torque. I was thinking if i could do that with the dongle for now as im propably not going to throw cam and cone filter in there and rather spend that extra money for nicer leather suit as i do go to our local track atleast few times on summer. Currently been riding with mc pants and armor.

Makes sense. I'd be amazed if someone fitted the Evo kit and didn't remap at the same time, but then you never know...

What's the price difference for the dongle Vs the power commander for your bike?

I'd probably go dongle and leathers first, then look at the power commander afterwards (assuming you can't get one the same price as the dongle!
Rottweiler sells one for 30$. The pc V would cost me around 300€ IF i could get it in the order i do as i have discount for my next order but i dont know if they will put it in the order as they need to order one separately (not listed on their website). But thats already 3-500€ of money i can put into leathers as you would need to take it to dyno to sort out the pc v mapping. No idea to get pc and use just some map from internet.

Oh yes and i think i saw in old documents that it had 0€ for evo 1 map so i think it does have the evo map installed. The evo package was installed when the first guy bought the bike from dealer.
