Hi
I know it’s not orange, but this the best place!
The clutch on my Sherco 500 is a bit heavy, I’ve been told to remove two springs or use washers to compress the springs??. To lighten it.
I’ve not done anything like this before. Anyone any experience on this , or any advice!
Many thanks

I'd be careful removing two springs on a bike that powerful. I've done that on my freeride (which makes about 20bhp) and have had the clutch slip in third on a shitty hill.

People do use spacers with success on the Betas so probably would work as long as you use the correct size.

A mate has just fitted a Midwest clutch lever and he says it's amazing. It definitely feels light to pull but I don't know how it would feel to ride because it will increase the length of pull needed.

Cheers al
I’ve ordered a longer lever as this one is very short and angled way out so it’s a stretch to pull even when fully adjusted back. I’ll try that first and do some more research on the springs!

With regards to adding washers if you go down that route you need to find washers that will fit inside the springs, the idea is that the washers hold the bigger washer that compresses the springs slightly away from the 'post' that they normally sit on, this means that there is less pre-load on the springs. If you go too far with this the clutch might slip or the bolt heads might catch on the clutch casing. The bolts will have less thread engagement with the clutch baskets so be careful when tightening them up

I’ve moved the lever in but they bend out a lot at the end, I’ve never had clutch this heavy on any bike, like I say I’ve a longer lever coming so I hope that sorts it.

I’m not sure if the master cylinder size is 9-10 I’ll have to look into it.

Is using springs a common fix? It’s not been an issue for me before!

Lever will be here weekend so I’ll take it from there.

Thanks lads

Sherco clutches are all like that except the last generation. We have removed two springs on a 300 and the clutch did not slip but the 500 seems to be a beast. We also installed 9mm master but if you do that you should know that you have less lift on the clutch hub and that could result in clutch drag.

I'd go the way with the washers, it normally works fine...

I’ve just got home and taken a few pictures of the lever, I think it stick out a lot away from bars it’s a as3, lever so it’s not oem.

That’s as close as the lever gets .
Crap!
If new lever is no better I’ll use washers on springs!
