Indicators - Flashing and won't switch off

Guy's my indicators started to flash by themselves on the way to work.
Both sides at first but then only the right side.
Tried to turn them off - but nothing happening.
Stopped bike, turned off engine, they stopped, turned the key but did not fire the engine - started to flash.

Had to ride all the way into work with everyone flashing their indicators etc at me to warn me that mine were on

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds immobiliser related what with the dual flashing and being different when engine running/stopped.
Do you have one fitted.
I had a similar thing with a taurus immobiliser on my old adv. It went faulty and would do the flashy thing whilst riding,
sometimes cutting the engine, others not. Changed the immob unit and all was fine.

Thanks for your responses.

Not sure if it is the immob / alarm (its the KTM upgrade). Cause even though it started with both after a minute or so only one indicator was flashing but will check the connections.

Well I started it up and rode all the way home with out any issues!

Just put the kids to bed so am off to spray a bit of WD40 or acf-50 around the switch. Will also take the head light / dash off and check the connectors there.

(I was cursing myself thinking it was because I had put vaseline on the connections under the engine area).

Well - just got back from the garage........ had to put the heater on - It's freezing!

Took the head lamp off and followed the indi wires to the main connector blocks. It's like spag bol in multi colour up there. I checked all the connectors and they were all fine. There was one block which was tied to the left, it had four wires.(as you face the bike) - but was not connected to anything???

I also took the indicator/headlamp flasher etc casing switch apart - there was no visible signs of water- but gave it a shot of ACF too.

Well I guess I have to wait for the ride in to work tommorow. I'm hoping that its sorted.

Once again thanks for helping.

Kev - Really appreciate the awesome offer. Can't beleive how helpful you all are! In this instance I'll pass - the bike is going in for its first service in a couple of weeks (and it's still got 23 mths and 21 days of warranty left).
