How heavy are you? May be easier to go on a diet - not kidding! If you want a light SM get a 450/500/525 etc

You can get rid of the air box, but, like slugger asked, why?

 

There's nowt much you can do to it and make much difference, wheels, full Ti zorst, bolts, airbox, removing headlight, indicators, switchgear is about it. Might get you 15kg from a standard bike. Or just go on the brown and drop to eight stone . . .

 

Tyres may save a kg or two

 

I know some one that has there smc down to 115kgs.

So realy me an the bike are fine, just like to get rid of a the weight that is not needed. Air box has gone like i said from evo1 kit. All bolts over hole bike has been changed.

I have a twin 640 an that was heavy, jumping to this carbon fibre 77bhp 690 is a big step in weight and power but like every1 els i want the best an go that bit thurther like the guy off of de-restricted site. So was asking for pointers off the ktm forum but if im getting

"You lose weight"

"Buy another smaller bike"

"Do drugs"

I think i will have better luck just taking bits off an seeing for myself what i can do .

In all seriousness if you've hit a 77bhp 690 SMC with carbon panels, Airbox removed, Ti bolts, full Ti zorst etc. then it's serioys dish to get much lighter. As you've said carbon wheels is probably the biggest single weight loss mod you could do. Other than that it's custom carbon subframe ( massive dosh ) lighter swingarm ( massive dosh ) . . .

 

Tubeless wheels (doesn't have to be £1500) remove side stand, indicators, front light. Get kick start and remove battery. Titanium axles. Depends what you are trying to achieve. .
