New Tyre choice for my 950 sm

I am sure there is information here somewhere but will ask again :)

Any thoughts on choice of new tyre as my rear is super smooth after using the last up yesterday.

Fitted are Maxxis Super Maxx Sports which have been great this summer but I am thinking something a little more all round use tyre. I am in mid Wales and do like buzz up tracks and C roads and I will use the bike all winter. Last bike was a 950 ADV and the SM is really almost as good on forest tracks

The SM is X Bikes filter/Jets + Ti Akro's + I have 950 ADV bars and pazzo levers otherwize fairly standard

The Supermaxx touring looks like a good compromise and I could get away with just fitting the rear for now I guess and keep the supermaxx sport front until it wears a bit more

Any thoughts appreciated

Thanks

I have the trail attack 2s on my bike and can't fault them- so much better than the oe pirellis- I commute every day on the main roads and along some pretty sketchy country and back roads. Good grip in the dry and wet and they have yet to step out on me when pushing them. Ktm are using contis as there oe choice on their newer bikes so you know they are pretty special.

I did wonder when you said you were in mid Wales- yeah it was me you spoke to about them. I really like them and will be getting them again when it's time to replace them especially with the state of the roads around here and the amount of loose grit/ leaves and mud around with the bad weather we have been having.

..... + I have 950 ADV bars ....
That sounds a very interesting modification that I haven't heard of before. Can I enquire why?

In terms of tyre choice, I like my Sportsmarts and I see that the Sportsmart 2 is now available. From the few reviews I've read it seems to be an improvement over what was an already excellent tyre. The Roadsmart is also an option.

Im a big fan of the current dulops.
Running sportsmarts on the superduke and roadsmarts on my winter bike (cbr600)
Just replaced the front with a roadsmart 2.
Tell you what they are fantastic in this current weather where the roads are cold and damp. Still warm up quick and grip really well.
Im thinking of switching to these on the sd when the sports are done.

be interested to know what the difference is in mileage between the two . My rear sportsmart is looking pretty well finished at 2k it may just scrape 2500 . I think its hard to get the most from such a sporty tyre on the road so if the roadsmart does over 3500 miles it will be the winner . the front is doing quite well and still in shape .

Probably a good choice mate . I keep asking myself what's the best value. Ie Michelin pilot at ÂŁ150 a set or sportsmart. At ÂŁ250 a set do you get ÂŁ100 more value from the latter in terms of miles because I bet you would never notice the difference in how try ride . Not tried the michelins but at 2500 miles from the dunlops and I guess 1500 from the old michelins the cost per mile is the same . Except the front lasts half of the next rear so now my brain is Fried.

A vote for Bridgestone BT023 GT's here. Not the sexiest looking tyre but seems to grip well in cold wet weather, I'm sure they will grip well int dry and they're supposed to have longevity but only time will tell.

Got mine for ÂŁ190 off 't eBay delivered.
